Book a show

at a venue or at home

I play in lots of different places, festivals, pubs, clubs, retreats and even living rooms and kitchens. But I do have a few requirements, so if you want to book me to come and play for you, please consider the following:

- This type of music doesn't really work in noisy environments. If you think your audience would enjoy being part of a listening experience then I will happily consider your offer. My preference is for small to medium sized, intimate settings where there's a minimal need for amplification. This is why the best gigs are often in living rooms! Larger spaces can work but they're usually theatres, clubs and dedicated performance spaces where everybody coming wants to listen. Please tell me what type of setting I'll be playing in.

- If you have a local venue you'd like me to play in, I'll consider approaching the venue with you and we'll see if we can put the gig on together.

- If there are more than 15 people attending I usually need amplification. Please tell me how many people you expect and whether or not the venue has its own sound system.

- The further away the gig is, the more the travel costs. If it's more than a two or three hour drive, and depending on what else is going on in my life, I may need accommodation. The days of sleeping on couches are long over I'm afraid. This middle-aged dad needs a bed!

- If you also want storytelling / workshops or talks on Celtic myth, I can mix the music up with such things. I regularly teach online courses, run workshops on Celtic myth and tell traditional stories, so if that's what you're interested in, let me know. You can find out more about my work in that field here.

- The fee all depends on who you are and what you're trying to accomplish. A standard 1hr local gig / storytelling with minimal travel usually costs around £200. I sometimes consider playing free for fundraisers and good causes. The further away the gig is, the longer I'm away from home, the higher the fee and the travel / accommodation costs.
